Types of companies and their registration

There are no specific requirements to foreigners wishing to do business in Belarus. Investors, regardless of whether they are residents of the Republic of Belarus or another state, are subject to one legal regime and have equal rights to do business in Belarus by creating separate legal entities. This procedure requires a number of legal formalities, in particular registration in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities and Individual Entrepreneurs.

The Belarusian legislation provides the following legal forms of business entities:

  • Individual entrepreneur (abbreviation IE);
  • Peasant Farm (abbreviation PF);
  • Unitary Enterprise (abbreviation UE) ;
  • Production Cooperative (abbreviation PC) ;
  • General Partnership (abbreviation GP);
  • Limited Partnership (abbreviation LP);
  • Additional Liability Company (abbreviation ALC) ;
  • Limited Liability Company (abbreviation LLC);
  • Open Joint Stock Company (abbreviation OJSC);
  • Closed Joint Stock Company (abbreviation CJSC).

Other options of doing business include the creation of representative offices and branches of legal entities.
