Mogilev Region

Monastic Harvest (St. Nicholas Nunnery in Mogilev), BelTA

Mogilev is one of the most beautiful cities, which preserved a lot of interesting historical monuments. This is the town hall building, which houses the museum of the city’s history, the Council House, the twin brother of the capital’s Government House (architect I. Langbard), and the former Cathedral of Saint Stanislav, where the annual International Christian Festival of Sacred Music “Mighty God” is held, and the memorial Arch of Fame of 1780 – the trace of the historical meeting of the Austrian Emperor Joseph II and the Russian Empress Catherine the Great in May 1780.

One of the brightest pages in the history of the Great Patriotic War unfolded near Mogilev. Be sure to visit the Buinichi field, where in July 1941 the defenders of the city blunted the attack of the Nazi invaders. On May 9, 1995 a memorial complex in memory of the heroes of World War II was opened at the Buinichi field.
